Drop-Leaf Quill

Used to write all of the creation stories, this writing tool comes from the Drop-Leaf tree itself. Imbued with magic, it produces ink that will never fade. Now days, these countless volumes and tomes are hidden away in a discrete location few know as protection from those who wish to destroy this part of history. As each book is not copied, nor been reproduced in any way, these are the one and only original texts and are treated with care and caution.

Requiring magic to be "allowed" to write, this quill fashioned from a branch of the drop-leaf tree will only respond to a magic users touch. In addition, it will refuse to write for those of malicious intent, almost as a sentient object.

Only a precious few remain of these quills, kept by the highest of scholars in the highest of libraries for its own protection. As you may imagine many people try to find these quills to be used for less savory purposes. As they have magic within, olde magic, they can be used to create the most powerful potions, bombs, and used as tokens in especially difficult and dangerous spells that require immense amounts of magic to cast. Fetching a pretty price on the black market, many fakes are sold to those naieve enough to purchase them.

Most of the books written by these quills are not even readable by modern society. Luckily the ink will never fade, so losing the knowledge is not a concern. However, as they were written over 900 years ago, and mainly by the original magical beings in the world, the languages are long gone, or so changed with the years it is hard to comprehend. As a result, many of the stories will remain lost in another world and time, the only memory is what has been verbally passed down; granted these have changed throughout the years and multiple retellings.
