Arcane Corruption

The continued use of magic in a concentrated area can cause strange effects on the world in and around that spot. Places such as Ilia, a city where nearly every citizen has some magical capability, has places where streets seem to get jumbled up or time that flows differently from block to block. Places of highly concentrated magic, such as a school or research facility, also develop strange effects like a seemingly infinite staircase, the building manifesting new hallways or doors leading to different rooms each time they are opened. One can overcome such effects with sufficient enough wisdom to "reset" the area to its normal state, or at least to be able to perceive it as it truly is.
