The Nation of Xylotile
The Nation of Xyotile
-Located to the West of The Kingdom of Ascensia and The Frosthead Kingdom, the Nation of Xylotile is one that is heavily expanding, taking territories left and right and frequently causing wars with surrounding civilizations.
-The Nation of Xylotile is one that has outlawed the use of magic in its traditional sense in favour of technology. While casting spells is illegal, the nation's power source for most of their machinery is raw magic. In its raw form, magic is potent enough to power steam engines, lift airships, and act as a catalyst for chemical reactions.
-Technology here is the best in the known world, as Xylotile has managed to create vast networks of steam-powered trains to haul resources around as well as gun powder to defend their greedily-obtained territories. There isn't any technology here that is newer than that of the late-1800's industrial revolution. Radios have not yet been invented, but wired messages are absolutely common and it would be strange to not know how to operate a telegraph.
-The average person in The Nation of Xylotile is typically overworked, underpaid, and work in sweatshops, mines, or around dangerous machinery. Their quality of life is incredibly low, as even the air can be toxic in most areas of larger cities and towns, their access to clean water has been disrupted by large industries dumping their waste into the water supplies, and while medical care is available, it is often too expensive for the average citizen to afford. "If it can be monetized or profited off of, it has already been bought by one of the many industrial barons" -Xylotile street-rat warning.
-The streets of Xylotile are always bustling with activity from merchants trying to sell their goods, to the leaky steam pipes, from the constant whining of machines, to the rushing motion of the trains. Xylotile never sleeps and expects the same from its citizens.
-Recently Xylotile has been trying to grip its grimy paws on The Floating Isles for its seemingly endless power source, but to no avail.
-The village of Cyrne Creek in The Kingdom of Ascensia has even seen some of Xylotile's forces gathering across the banks of the creek it's named after. Rumours of war have spread across all corners of the kingdom and forces have been stationed in case of an offensive is launched. Daily the soldiers from both sides shoot glares at each other, but so far nothing of note has happened... Yet...
