Currencies

-Idoria is home to many civilizations and currencies, however most civilizations have agreed to use the "Coin Method".

-The "Coin Method" is the idea that each currency is based off of a resource that is more or less valuable compared to others. Most civilizations use the actual material that give these coins their name as the coin, itself. This makes it easier to accept the currency across borders and language barriers, as even if one nation's currency is worth less than the material of the coin, the coin holds intrinsic value since it is made out of a valuable material.

-The system isn't perfect, however, as some civilizations' easier access to one material over others leads their currency to be inflated for that one currency and deflated for others. Not to mention producing counterfeit coins is one of the easiest ways to make money illegally, as even if the coin is "fake", the material it's made of holds the value. This makes cracking down on counterfeiting difficult, as any mine operator, smelter, or foundry can produce their own coins in secret. It also holds the flaw of that currency being consumed to create goods, which takes money out of circulation permanently. Though, despite these flaws, it has become so widespread and accepted that to change to anything else would essentially crash a nation's economy nigh permanently.

-For most goods that a peasant would have access to, Copper Coins or Silver Coins are to be expected. However, for complex, artisan, magical, or labour-intensive goods, it isn't uncommon to see prices soar to the Gold or Platinum levels. Iridium Coins are typically only carried or stored by governing bodies as a means of saving space, reparations, and trading in bulk.

100 Copper Coins = 1 Silver Coin

100 Silver Coins = 1 Gold Coin

100 Gold Coins = 1 Platinum Coin

100 Platinum Coins = 1 Iridium Coin
