The Cataclysm

The merging of worlds, the colliding of great planes, the great reset, or simply the cataclysm, was a devistating event where sixty percent of the worlds population died on both sides. To this day researchers still don't know what caused the cataclysm to occur, but here's what we do know.

The Rifts

On 0AR (After Reset), the first record on the resettian calendar, or 214AC (after consolidation) on the Zekite calendar, what we now call spacial rifts started appearing. Historians disagree on where the first rift tore trough space due to the sheer number of them, records from different areas are fighting for the title of first. Some even argue that all of them appeared simultaniously, to devastating effect.
The rifts had no regard for existing infrastructure or physical objects. Houses torn in half, rivers turned into waterfalls, people killed on the spot they stood. Utter chaos ensued, society and life were disrupted beyond measure. Several historic records point to the authorities trying to keep order and evacuate the civilians. Plenty other records point to research efforts being conducted as to this new phenomenon. None of the efforts bore fruit. The rifts kept appearing more and more. Older rifts started to grow larger and larger.
This went on for weeks, and as the people dispaired they turned towards the heavens for answers. When they found none they beseeched the spirits to cool their wraith. When the spirits did not answer they looked into the abyss on the other side of the rift with pleading eyes. First with fear and hope, then with anger and dispair.

The Haze

Until one day a man by the name of Simon Cobbler brazenly walked up to the rifts and shouted to the void "feck off u cunt!". The void, seemingly uninpressed, did not change, at first...

... untill a purple haze (now known as Mana) oozed out of the rift. It roiled, slowly at first but quickly speeding up, across the land towards the people. Soon the entire world was coverd in a purple mist of sorts, reportedly people could not see further then 10 feet in front of them. The sound of a thunderclap rang out. As the sound still reverberated in the air, the haze started moving becoming sparcer in some parts and thicker in other parts. The sparce parts slowly blew towards the ground or the air, while the thicker parts started packing tighter and tighter together.

The Fae

This is when the first records of the Fae were made. The haze slowly coelsced into small forms flying in the sky, turning and turning. Over time they took shapes and were formed into tiny bodies not dissimilar to our own Human appearance. Once the haze fully dissipated the thundering noise subsided and all the rifts were gone. The tiny humanoid creatures started animating, inspecting their surroundings, their "bodies" and us.
The annals describe a "...Great wailing in our minds, like wives turned widow were locked in our head..." that turned many men mad. Those that survived tried to strike out against these screaching beings. But instead of regular punches and kicks that were expected, curious effects occured. Several books mention balls of fire shooting from hands, spears of ice piercing the sky or feet turning into metal anvils.

The end and the beginning

The cataclysm was over after bringing great destruction, but also great power. It made whole new world, without a world order, now shared between men and fae for better or worse
