Session 13: The Lanmola

General Summary

The session started with the Water Merchants starting the battle with the adult Lanmola. Both sides trade attacks, with The Water Merchants attacking with weapons and spells, and the lanmola attacking with its pinchers, thrashing body, and kicking up large rocks. After taking two particularly nasty blows from Feng and Tanager, the lanmola retreated underground. The group felt on-and-off rumbling and shifting under the ground. After it stopped for some time, Thistle (in bear form), took a stop towards Ora, but fell shoulder-deep into a pit trap of loose dirt, dug by the lanmola. Sunny also tried to take a step and almost fell into a similiar loose dirt pit trap, but was able to stop himself from falling in.   Tanager attemped to fly across the room, but upon landing, the lanmola erupted from the ground and grabbed Tanager in its pincher-like mandibles. It then tries to drag Tanager underground, but Sunny manages to pull him out of the dirt. Tanager managed to separate himself with a well-placed thunderwave to the lanmola's face. Then lanmola then retreated again under the ground. The group then felt more rumblings underground that went on for several minutes. Shortly after, the entire floor collapsed down several stories. The lanmola was nowhere in sight, but there was a large tunnel leading away from the collapsed debris.   The group, banged up and bruised, dug each other out of the rubbble and took a brief rest to collect themselves. Once they healed up a bit, they started down the tunnel, eventually coming to a branch. They went down one branch, but after a walking a bit, found it ended in a dead end. They turned around and headed back, but when they reached the intersection, the lanmola burst out from the opposite wall. It grabbed Feng and attempted to drag him into the wall. After a struggle, bear-form Thistle was able to drag Feng from the lanmola's grasp. The lanmola retreated back into the rocks, collapsing rocks and rubble behind it and blocking the party from following it.   The party continued down the other branch. After a few minutes, the group picked up the stench of decay. They came upon a corpse, with a small lanmola feeding on it. Sunny killed it with an arrow shot. Shortly beyond that, they came to the end of the tunnel and discovered many watermelon-sized eggs. The group started stabbing the eggs, killing many of the unhatched lanmolas, when the adult lanmola burst up from the floor. It attacked the group as several lanmola hatchlings emerged from their eggs and attacked the group.  The group eventually killed the adult lanmola.  They then grabbed on of the hatchlings and threw it in a sack and brought it back to the surface with them.   The group entered Tando's shed, where they presented the lanmola hatchling.  Tando killed it by smashing it with a hammer as the group explained the what happened to the missing miners.  Tando paid the Water Merchants and then instructed his miners to begin working back in the mine.  As the group was leaviong Tando's shed, they saw a piece of literature for the Knights of the Darunic Order hanging on the wall.  The group then made their way back to Hyrule Castletown, arrivng late in the evening.   As the group were winding down at the Tilt n' Stagger Inn, they were approached by a mailman who delivered a letter to them.  It was from Maurice, the library worker/translator from Castletown. He indicated he learned they were looking for him, and that he will be back in the city in a week's time, if they want to come see him then.   The next morning, the group went and looked over the notice board, but instead decided to go to the Goron capical city of Darbus.  After several hours travel, they reach the Death Mountain Area.  As they approached Death Mountain / Mount Darunia, they noticed all manners of industrial work being done on the mountain and neighboring mountains.   As they were about to enter the mountain, two goron guards asked their business.  When the guards learned the group wanted to go see the Knights of the Darunic Order, the guards chuckeld to themsevles.  When the group inquired, the guards described the Knights of the Darunic Order as a fanatical doomsday cult.  The Water Merchants entered the mountain, checked in their Bullbo and cart, and rode an elevator up to the city proper, inside the mountain.   Upon entereing the city, they heard a crier ringing a bell and proclaiming the end of the world is near and to join the Knights of the Darunic Order.
