Session 12: Thunderrock Mine

General Summary

Session started with The Water Merchants leaving the lodge of Hector Rofwaldan in Hyrule Castletown and heading towards Thunderrock Iron Mine. Shortly after leaving the city proper, the it began to rain heavily. The group weathered the storm and continued along. After some time traveling, the group came across an individual named Elwood Walsh, who was standing just off the road: a Hylian who had an easle and canvas, and was painting a landscape. The group talked about the Elwood's painting of a mountian in the distance. They then paid Elwood to paint a group portrait.   The group continued traveling for a while, and come upon Thunderrock Iron Mine -- a mining organization at the foot of a mountain. The site has a protective wall in front of it and small stream in front of the wall. There were many miners digging into the side of the mountain (all humans and hylians. The group entered the site and requested to speak to Tando. A worker lead them over to the foreman shed and introduced them to Tando, a large, gruff goron, who brought them into his shed to talk business. Insided, they noticed an advert for the Knights of the Darunic Order. They then inquired about what services are needed.   Tando indicated some miners are missing. The first miner went missing a month ago, having went into the mine but disappeared while in there. Two weeks later, two more miners went into the mine and vanished. Another went down to look for them, but only found their tools, abandoned. Now, the miners have refused to go into the mine. The group then talked to the lead miner, Cecil Burke, who provided them a map detailing where the missing miners usually worked. After some back and forth with Tando, the group agreed to check out the mine.   The entered the mine, and made their way to the first area that Cecil marked, which was a large open dead end. It was empty except for an overturned mine cart. The group discorered small, white, thin, brittle, shards of something on the ground. Nearby, they discovered small area on the ground that appeared to have been dug up. Using some nearby mining tools, Tanager tried digging the area, which he was able to easily do, as the ground was somewhat soft. He was able to dig a hole down a good forearm's length before he was unable to get an angle with the shovel. The group speculated it was a burrowing shaft dug by some kind of creature.   As they turned and began leaving, they group was attacked as a swarm of keese fly down from a ventilation shaft, and several chu's dropped from the ceiling. Tanager was able to dispose of the keese swarm without much difficulty by blasting them away with thunderwave. The chus proved to be a bit more difficult, with attacks sticking to them, and certain attacks causing the chus to bisect into two smaller-sized chus. However, the group was able to eventually defeat the chus, that upon death, turned into semi-solid gel that slowly evaporated.   They continued along, following the main shaft to another large dead-end that Cecil marked. In this shaft, they found a large, white, egg-like object the size of a watermelon, that was cracked open and empty. It was made of the same material as the white shards they found earlier. As they shone some light around, they saw some movement behind a large rock followed by quick, scarping sounds. When they investigated, they saw another small patch of freshly dug earth like the one they saw in the other room.   The group continued down further into the mine, heading towards the final area Cecil marked. It was another large, dead-end room. It was empty, but in the center of the room was a circle of dirt with a pickaxe and hardhat in the middle of it. They began digging into the dirt, and after a few inches, the ground began shaking. The shifting ground caused the supports to the room entrance to break, causing a small cavein, blocking the exit.   Erupting from the ciricle of dirt, was a giant centipede like creature.
