Session 01: The Escape

General Summary

The adventure began with each of the characters waking up from unconsciousness. The last thing each of them remember was being shot with a blowgun dart coated with a black, tar-like substance, and falling unconscious. They deduced that they are in underground and held in individual cells with only one visible exit door at the far end. As they began to plan a means of escaping a bokoblin entered the holding cells area carrying a hylian youth. The boy was causing quite a fuss, squirming and yelling threats about "telling his uncle" to the bokoblin.   Through the commotion, the PCs were able to hear the bokoblin had a ring of keys on his person. After throwing the young boy into an empty cell and locking the door, the bokoblin started walking back towards the exit. Feng, a male sheikah, collected some dirt and grit from the floor and threw it at the bokoblin as it was walking by his cell, which was met with an annoyed snarl from the bokoblin.   The bokoblin continued back towards the exit, but stopped at Tanager's (a male rito) cell. The bokoblin licked its lips, rubbed its belly, and snarled out some words in its Boko language while pointing at Tanager. When the bokoblin was done harassing Tanager, it started back towards the door. Feng then began tapping his cell bars to get the bokoblin's attention. The bokoblin turned and returned to Feng's cell. When it was close enough, Feng grabbed the bokoblin by the neck and pulled its head toward him, smashing the bokoblin's face into the cell bars as hard as he could, twice in rapid succession. The bokoblin fell limp to the ground, and Feng was able to lift the keys off of it, and was able to quickly find the key to free himself.   Feng then freed the rest of the captives. Ora, a female sheikah, Thistle, a male korok, Sunny, a male zora, Kassu, a male hylian, Easifa, a female gerudo, Bula, a male goron, Thave a male hylian, Cece a female kokiri with her bonded Fairy named Didi, and Preston Tilcott, the young hylian tween. After searching the the downed bokoblin, they threw it into one of the cells.   Thistle, using his wildshape ability, turned into a spider and crawled under the door leading out. On the other side, he saw four bokoblins: two at a table, carving up a humanoid corpse, one near a fire cooking meat, and one other. The group spent a few moments formulating a plan. With a plan in place, Sunny flung open the door and Tanager casted thunderwave at the bokoblinsl. Three of the bokoblins and the carving table were sent flying from the spell, with one of the bokoblins crashing through some storage crates, and another bokoblin landing in the fire. All four bokoblins were killed by the spell.   The group proceeded to do a quick survey of the room. Sunny opened only other door leading out of this room and heard the snarling and screeching of several bokoblins heading in the group's direction. The group locked and barricaded the door, and searched the room plus an adjacent alcove filled with bones and trash in efforts to try and find another way out. As the bokoblins off in the distance reached the door and began trying to break down the door, the group concluded that same door was their only way out.   After a quick deliberation, the group decided to try to ambush the bokoblins. They took the smoldering corpse of the bokoblin that landed in the fire and placed it in the room with the holding cells, hoping it would draw the bokoblins into that room where the party could lock the door behind the bokoblins. Sunny hid behind the overturned table. Thistle hid amongst the broken crates. The rest hid in the room filled with the bones and refuse.   The bokoblins busted down the door and entered the room and spread out. One went into the room with the holding cells. The party then attacked the bokoblins (with Thistle wildshaping into a bear), whom the party defeats. They traveled down the tunnel that the bokoblins came from and found a ladder that lead up into a hole in the ceiling. They climbed the ladder (with Thistle still in bear form) and found themselves in another tunnel. Sunny climbed the ladder, poked his head up through the hole to check what was up there. The ladder lead to another corridor above them, and Sunny could see the reflection of a fire source around a bend further down the corridor.   With the coast being clear, the party climbed up the ladder to the corridor above, where they noticed only a short way down the corridor was wide, natural rift in the floor in which a foul odor of refuse emanated. On the far side, there was a long plank of wood. Ora used her sheika arts to teleport to the other side of the rift. She laid the plank across the rift, allowing the rest of the party to cross.   The group continued down the corridor and went around the bend to find a small campfire and several opened bedrolls. The group concluded these belonged to the bokoblins that they encountered earlier. They continued down an adjacent corridor and came to another opening that had a small fire pit, loose rocks on the ground, and several passageways--with one passageway having daylight emanating from it.   While trying to stealthily traverse the room, one of the loose rocks were accidentally kicked, alerting some nearby bokoblins and the bokoblin ringleader and his two wolves. A fight ensued. During the fight, the bokoblin leader hit Feng with a vicious attack, knocking him unconscious. Ora also took a blow from a bokoblin, knocking her unconscious as well. Sunny was able to kill the bokoblin leader, while Thistle stabilized Feng. The remaining bokoblins, shaken seeing their leader fall, tried retreating but the party cut all the fleeing bokoblins down.

Memorable Quotes

Tanager: Ooohhh..... I'm not as tasty as you might think!
Feng: I'll tell his uncle, too!
Tanager: [puts his hands on his hips after casting thunderwave in the caverns] I really didn't think this through.
Thistle: Do you want to give the key to one of us, so we're all assumingly hidden....?
Feng: Yes.
Sunny: I'll take the key.
Thistle: ...cause I'm indistinguishable from furniture to your eye.
(after Ora teleports to the other side of the crevasse.)
Thistle: Seems like that could have helped before.
Ora: Listen, I didn't want you to know everything I could do, yet!
