Organics are people who reject the idea of cybernetic body modifications and excessive use of advanced technology. There are no rigid guidelines one is required to follow to be an organic, but most tend to reject any technology more advanced than space travel or interplanetary communication. The level of dedication they have varies; some people who call themselves organics live their lives relatively normally, just avoiding cybernetic enhancements. Others avoid synthetic clothing, opting instead to wear organic plant-based clothing, and some avoid clothing entirely. Hardcore organics tend to look down on the less extreme members.
History
The organic movement started on the planet Pleisse. The young people of the various cities of Pleisse were enamored by stories of the time before the planet was completely industrialized. Wanting to return to these times and to protest the rampant technologization of daily life, a group of these young people decided to turn against this and live their lives as naturally as possible. The movement spread throughout Pleisse, and then to other planets in the galaxy.
Reaction
Reactions to the movement range from acceptance, to encouragement, to violence. Most people in the galaxy find the movement odd, but have no personal qualms with it. Other nature conservation groups are very supportive of the movement. Some groups are strongly opposed to it, some even resorting to violence against them. Some people within the movement believe that the violent opposition comes from people planted by various megacorps, as their beliefs directly oppose what these companies are trying to achieve. Some higher ups from these companies have been heard making off-handed comments insulting organics, which further supports this theory.
