Ornicthi

Ornicthi are a race that is diminutive in stature, but towering in the realms of culture and skill mastery.

Physical Appearance

Ornicthi are a race of birdlike humanoids, they are usually 2 to 4 ft. tall with a head reminiscent of a Corvid . They have feathers that stretch over their entire body down to their feet and hands, interestingly in colder weather feathers will spread downwards over the course of several days until the individuals feet are completely covered. The feathers themselves can be a wide range of colors from sharp blacks and greys to elegant patterns with blues and greens. Their eyes are large and are most commonly black, brown, and yellow but can also be grey, blue, red or even purple. Ornicthi that have gained more ambient magic over their life can develop wings that can lift them to flight, others may rarely gain a trait more fitting to their lifestyle. Ornicthi feet are not suited to plain shoes and usually go barefoot, though a few kinds of do sandals exist connected to status or profession. Distantly related to their "sister race" of the Gruid .
When playing an Ornicthi good inspiration can be taken from real life corvids, many of which are far more colorful then you might think.

Sky at home

Orinicthi love being above the ground to feel the breeze and enjoy the scents it carries, whether its salt from the ocean, warm pine from the forest, or soft blossoms from gardens and wildlands. Because of this their houses tend to have higher ceilings then you would expect for there size, this is due to their consideration of taller guests as much as their love of elevation. The walls of most traditional buildings are made from a waterproof paper-like materiel stretched between wood or bamboo frames, The more public areas of buildings have tall ceilings and lots of dark rafters while more private living spaces are multistoried and have ceilings low enough that creatures bigger then Ornicthi would have trouble moving. Of course if an Ornicthi lived with a member of another race tall ceilings would continue throughout the house.
Ornicthi's connection to nature, wind and weather especially, lends them to making thematically good druids and rangers, and their love of climbing lends to rouges *cough cough ninjas cough*. Keep the usual love for the sky in mind, does you character match this? if so how do they show it?, if not why and how did this effect them socially?

Spry souls

Ornicthi are lively people, and show how liveliness comes in many forms. Composure wise, most come across as very formal, and this is true most ethnic groups of ornicthi take respect, tradition, and standing very seriously. However this doesn't mean they cannot be lively, they express their outlook on life with passion and the dedication they show for their work make their workplaces bustle with soft song and the clatter of tools.
Most Ornicthi are taught to be composed and respectful, however this doesn't mean that those with more outwardly exuberant personalities don't have a hard time with it. How does your character show their passion for life and where do they find it?
