Spined Rat

Spined Rats live in the high plains and woods of the Brunivard plateaus, eating seeds, fruits, insects and worms. When threatened, the spined rat will arch its back and hunch its shoulders so that almost no part of it remains unprotected by spines. Their protective spines exude a slightly caustic chemical which is a common ingredient in fire-related potions, and also makes a puncture wound tremendously painful.
