Dagstjarna (The Daystar)

So it came to pass, in the time of the darkness before the worlds, that mighty Dagstjarna, the Day Star, birthed herself from the Void. Her heat and her light filled the darkness and pushed out the darkness. Great is her power! The Day Star lived an age alone, and an age alone, and an age all alone. And desiring the comfort of her kind, she brought forth children to share her light.   The first of these, her eldest, Meginstjarna, whose might sweeps all foes away. In times of need we pray to her for strength.   Next came Blodstjarna, who learns all things at the end of all things. One may learn much from her, for she hears every tale, but only those that are willing to pay the price. In times of need we pray to her for comfort and understanding.   Fourth to be born was Hridstjarna, who brings the storm and spout at sea; she shakes the land when she comes near! In times of need we pray to her for power and calm.   The fifth was small and fought with her sisters, for she was jealous of their mother's love. After half an age, Snaerstjarna, the Star of Snow, moved to live the farthest from Dagstjarna, on the edge of the Darkness she lives, between the shadows of her sisters and the shadows of the Void. In times of need we pray to her for cleverness.   The middle daughter, our Goddess, is Glitastjarna, generous giver of our sustenance, known to our people for all our ages, the source of all we know. We thank her for her daily gifts as we live our lives in her praise.   All glory to Dagstjarna, source of heat and light! All glory to her daughters, who bring us love and strength, cleverness and death! All glory to the prophets, who carry their words to the land!
