Burrowing Parrot

A parasite without parallel, the Burrowing Parrot takes advantage of the large mammals of the Brunivard plateau. Almost immediately after hatching, the parrots exude a numbing and coagulating agent that coats their feathers. Smaller than many other Brunivard birds, they are able to eat their way into the flesh of much larger animals without affecting them over much. They will lay their eggs in these chambers, and use them as well-protected nests. It is not uncommon to see flocks of Burrowing Parrots curling around herds of Storm Buffalo, wild Whale Oxen, or even Tree Rhinoceros. Other than during nest-building, the dire parrots do not harm the animals they live in, but will groom pest insects from the hides and fur of their hosts.
