Cock Lock and Load

“I sell to raider and settlers, regimes and rebellions… Hell, I’d sell to pacifists if they weren’t such lousy customers.” Vincent Ackerman
Cock Lock and Load is a gun shop and home of Vincent Ackerman

OVERVIEW

Cock Lock and Load is Weapons Shop, primarily specializing in offering the player an assortment of firearms from pistols to a Minigun, as well as armor, in exchange for money. CLL also sells various other types of weapons, like machetes and RPGs. In the beginning of the game, CLL will tend to have only weak weapons in stock; more powerful weapons are unlocked as the player progresses through the storyline or by completing Vinnie's Missions

SHOP LAYOUT

CLL is made up of two floors, the sales building and the Armory, and the downstairs living area where the player may find Vinnie on occasion.
TOP FLOOR
The sales building and the armory make up much of the first floor of the building. While the wall may show various pieces of Arms, The sales building has a computer—the Online Weapon Shop— which is actually used for purchasing weapons, upgrades and equipment needed. Opening and going out the backdoor will lead the player to a small custom target range, the range opens at 6am. This place, and places like them will test the player’s skills in handling weapons, and can be used simply to improve gun handling skills. Passing the shooting ranges offers the player a small sum of money as a reward, and completion of a shooting range is often necessary for 100% completion of the game.
BOTTOM FLOOR
The basement of the building is the living space of Vinnie and his Dog Basilia. It is relatively small, with a tiny corner fridge, a recliner with a small table with a radio on it, in the corner there is a cot. However it is interesting to note that Vinnie is never shown to sleep on it at night, instead he can be found sleeping on his Recliner, while Basilia can be found sleeping on the cot. The basement also has Vinnies own private terminal.

CONVOY MISSIONS

The inventory at Vinnies weapon shops and and depending on the mission, other shops can be increased by accepting missions. Said missions—"convoy missions“—usually involve stealing a shipment of weapons from raiders, but over time the Difficulty will increase to groups such as the Brotherhood of Steel, Vinnie may also ask the player to do “Favors” for other Arms Dealer Shops in the area, this allows the player to open a wider range of weapons to different ammunition stops. Once these missions are completed, the inventory in every weapon shop is increased, unlocking up to three new weapons and allowing them to be purchased by the player.
"I tell you what, my friend, you tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why I cant do that" Vinnie when the Player Attempts to Enter his Locked Terminal

Trivia
  • Vinnie will often warn the player not to do anything stupid upon entering the store and considering he is armed in addition to his guard dog this is a credible warning

  • Sometimes, when buying a weapon, Vinnie congratulates the player on their choice, or promotes the weapon.

  • He brews his own moonshine. When first entering Vinnies home, the player can find that he has some homebrewing alcohol equipment set up with tubes running into jugs. After The BoS Raid mission, Vinnie, after being roughed up will lament over the loss of his brewery, which the player will notice is visibly smashed and broken. Gathering up enough materials will allow the player to fix it for him.

  • If Vinnie is hurt or killed, there is a change that Basilia will attack the player if she isn’t killed along with him. This may result in Basilia being able to almost insta-kill the player. Killing or hurting Vinnie will also prevent the player from buying weapons from his shop again for a period of time, as the shop will be closed and Basilia will be quick to chase the player off and keep the player away until Vinnie respawns again.

  • After all weapons that can be obtained by the convoy missions are acquired. Vinnie will still offer the player convoy missions in exchange for caps for the players services. Players are able to ignore them if they are busy with other missions.

  • Depending on the day of the week, should the player visit CLL during the night, the shop will be closed, but there is a chance the player may hear various noises hinting at possible sexual activities coming from the window leading into the basement.
