Standing Stones
Standing stones are mysterious obelisks that sometimes arise in the plains. They have symbols etched or carved into the face of the stone. The symbols are varied, and no living person has found a decipherable pattern. The petroglyphs on these obelisks tend to be looping symbols, with spirals as a common theme. If one follows the stones, they often point to buried cities or places of magical significance. Certain stones have holes bored into them, from apparently natural means to the studied eye. Gazing through one of these holes reveals things that could not otherwise be seen; ghosts of locations, creatures on the other side of the ethereal plane, or magically concealed objects.
