Cache houses

Cache houses are small buildings of varying sizes used by Highwaymen as a sanctuary in places where Walls or Waystays are more than a days trek from one another. They are typically built to blend into the landscape. For this reason, they are usually only able to accommodate a few people at a time, making larger ones rare. The Size of many is to the point that the average person can't stand up in the space.

Cache houses dot the land in vast numbers but are known to only a few. Even a Highwayman doesn't know them all. They all carry an identifying mark or symbol somewhere on its exterior to help in finding it among the mixture of fauna and debris of the old world. Some carry a strange mark. Others have an emblem like the greyhound in a circle of The Shiver.

Inside the structure, space is sparse, lending most of the room for storage of supplies like dried food, water, medicine, weapons, clothing, etc. As civilization makes a small come back Waystays crop up in all directions forcing the practice of Cache houses to fade.
