Proficiencies: Magical Schools

The use of scrolls or spellbooks to cast Magic-User and Illusionist spells requires training all schools of magic that are involved in the spell. Each school takes 1 month to learn, after which an apprentice may begin casting Cantrips of that type, if they also know the appropriate magical script. Someone who has completed a Scholarship apprenticeship (or equivalent) may develop proficiency in a school through their own research. Casters who receive their spells from non-written sources (such as Rangers and Shamans who are granted casting ability by fey and spirits) do not need to learn schools of magic. Tomes on the topic of magical schools will require knowledge of either Arkan or Luciferian to fully read, depending on the book, but regardless of the magical script, a school only needs to be learned once to enable casting of that sort of spell using either Arcane (MU) or Illusionist magic.
Proficiency in any school of magic costs 1 Scholarship slot.
