Northeast Region: East Dianans and the Black Sink

The Black Sink is a swampy overgrown region in the nook formed by the conjunction of the Spinal Mountains and Northern Crescent. With its west and south defined by steep cliffs, the Black Sink sits below sea level and gradually rises to meet the Golden Plains to the east and Rodite hills to the north. The Sink is home to horrifying monsters and practitioners of dark arts trying to exploit the region’s rumoured shortcuts to sources of unholy power. Legend tells of a once-mighty kingdom that literally collapsed, turning the mountains that it sat upon into a sinkhole, due to the king’s trifling with extraplanar forces in pursuit of power and immortality. Adventurers, sages, and merchants sometimes form parties in hopes of finding traces of this legendary kingdom. Alchemists visit the Sink in search of flora that can’t be found elsewhere. The Dianans treat the edges of the Black Sink as any other forest to be protected, but only venture into its depths on divine orders or to chase down and eliminate a threat to the surrounding environment.   Dianan Elf bands can be found throughout the southern and western areas of Shoulun, mostly in between the Black Sink to the Golden Desert. They live in simple huts in wooded copses and sally forth on horseback to hunt and watch for imbalances in the natural order. Dianans have the only society besides the Chaels in which Druids operate out in the open and Druidic classes exist alongside other classes.     Dianans:   Common tongue: Elvish   Classes: Mounted Archer, Fighter, Ranger, Druidic Classes, Bard, Witch, Oracle, Magic-User, Friar, Ranger/Cleric, Ranger/Thief, Ranger/Magic-User, Ranger/Oracle

Structure

Bands are lead by warrior-chieftains but these always defer to a high priestess, who answers to an Arch-Druid.
