Martial Arts: Elemental Spheres and Powers

The majority of Hubworld's martial arts systems draw upon extraplanar powers to accomplish their feats. Some of these even unlock the potential to wield spell-like powers upon Elemental Mastery. To achieve this final ability, the martial artist must master both the art and the associated element (see Proficiencies: Elemental Mastery).   The sphere associated with a given martial art confers bonuses and penalties in relation to arts of other elements or denizens of other planes as follows:

Elemental Powers   An elemental sphere need only be mastered once. Mastery of an elemental sphere means that the Elemental Power of any MA in that sphere will be available upon mastering that art.   Elemental powers differ from the spells they are named for in the following ways:   1) There is no material component (although certain environmental conditions may be required)   2) The somatic component is incorporated into the art itself   3) The verbal component consists of a single power-word   4) The casting time is 1 segment   5) A style's Elemental Power may be used as many times without replenishing as there are levels in that MA. Uses are replenished at a rate of one per half-hour of meditation up to their maximum.     Extraplanar Connections   Elemental martial arts draw power from the inner planes. Denizens of these planes, as well as the outer planes, are effectively fighting as martial artists of the associated element, receiving the appropriate bonuses and penalties against elemental martial artists or extraplanar beings.
