Martial Arts: Developing a New Style

A 6th level Warrior or Agilist, a 9th level Divine, or a 12th level Philosopher may develop their own original martial art. They must have Mastery in at least one martial art, and expertise in one other, to do so.   The primary parent of the new style must be a mastered martial art, and the secondary parent requires at least expertise.   The primary and secondary focus of the art must be chosen from among those of the primary and secondary parent arts (a secondary may become primary and vice versa).   The other features of the art may be taken from any other known art. One special feature of a mastered art may be included (e.g. Wu-Fu,Bardic,special Bow maneuvers).   The AC, strikes, and damage of the new art are based on the hardness and primary focus of the art as per Oriental Adventures.   If both hard and soft arts are used to create the new art, it may be hard, soft, or hard/soft. If hard and hard/soft arts are used, it may be hard or hard/soft. If soft and hard/soft are used, it may be soft or hard/soft.   Player-created arts may have up to 12 special maneuvers, 18 weapons, and 9 supplements.   Known supplemental maneuvers that were not part of the parent arts may be added, along with any weapons the martial artist has specialisation or class bonuses in (Knights,Freelancers,Freelander-Scouts). Warriors and Agilists may also include weapons of the same type as those featured in a parent martial art.   Because all parent arts are known, the new art costs no additional proficiency.   Prerequisites: the new art inherits all statistical minimum requirements of all contributing arts. The creator also has the option of restricting the art by class or alignment.   Element: the new martial art may be "natural" or of the element of either primary or secondary parent art, or the combination of the two, assuming the creator has Elemental Mastery of both.   Elemental Power: an Elemental Power based on a known spell or psionic ability may be added to an art if the creator is a Divine or Philosopher. To include an Elemental Power, a martial art must include Meditation as a special maneuver or as a supplement.   Once created, an art may be developed over time, but the Primary and Secondary parents and Focus do not change, nor do the AC, Mode, Attacks, and Damage/Critical. The prerequisites may change depending on what other arts are incorporated along the way.   Basic Features:
