Currencies: Precious Stones

The following is not an account of all precious stones that are traded in Hubworld, only those that make up a standard part of daily transactions in some regions. The standards gemcutters follow for stones used in this manner are taken from the Gnomes in the same way that mints follow the standards established by the Dwarves.
Standard gem sizes are based on the weight of a polished sphere of that material: small gem = 1/4" diameter, gem = 1/2" diameter, large = 1" diameter. The actual shape that gems are cut to varies by principality, but where used as currency, the weights are consistent.
