Character Classes: Freelanders (Family, Warrior Order)

There are two groups of Freelanders:
Warrior Scouts come from a variety of backgrounds but spend their times on the outskirts of civilization, protecting a community from external threats and/or defending nature from human harm. Rangers are as described in Players Handbook but now require two apprenticeships out of Martialist, Naturalist, or Stealthist. The Bounder and Rover are Halfling and Gnomish rangers, respectively, differing mainly in spell use (Druid/Cleric and Cleric/Illusionist). A Sea Shepherd is a sea ranger, with nautical skills suited to their niche. A Reef Ranger is a Silveradam, Half-Human, or Neptunite ranger operating beneath the sea. Neutral or Evil versions of these classes exist as the Survivalist (N/E Ranger), Mariner (N/E Sea Shepherd), and Submariner (N/E Reef Ranger). These classes share the other rangers’ close relationship to nature and commitment to the Druidic Directive but are otherwise self-interested. They have better tracking and hunting skills than Good rangers but are unable to learn as many spells. Additionally, there is the Medjay, a sort of desert ranger who enforces law in and around arid principalities. Medjays are hearty fighters, have some urban tracking skills in addition to wilderness, and use Cleric spells. They apprentice as Martialists. The Youxia is a veteran class that can only be entered from another class. A Good Cavalier, Samurai, Kshatriya, Bushi, Kensai, Fighter, Minstrel, Detective, or Monk of 3rd level or higher may subscribe to the Spirit Pact, and with the favour of the spirits, be granted Ranger-like abilities to be used in the service of good as a Youxia. High level Youxia cast Shukenja and Wu Jen spells.
Freefolk Warriors are the fighters of freefolk communities. The two subgroups correspond to the Barbarian and Oriental Barbarian of Unearthed Arcana and Oriental Adventures. Each has had its terrain types and skill sets grouped into three classes: The first subgroup includes the Siku (Vastlands, cold mountains), Sylvanean (forests, temperate mountains), and Paskwaw (prairies, steppes) classes; the second subgroup includes the Islander, Gobi (deserts, arid mountains), and Ohia (inland jungles, tropical mountains) classes.
