The Sulking Sea

Beating against the southern coast of the Sun Kissed Hills, The Rueful Plains, and the western coast of The Silent Vines, is the Sulking Sea. It is a vast and mostly calm stretch of water that connects both Mournful Bay and Stone Harbor two bays that bleed directly into the sea itself. Farther to the west at the coastal edge of the Sunless Mountains the Sulking Sea bleeds into The Woeful sea at a place called the black line named for the color the water takes in this area due to the combination of salinity and biological compositions of the waters.

Geography

The sea spans much of the Howllands southern coast, it touches the shores of The Sun Kissed Hills, The Rueful Plains, the western coast of the Silent Vines, and finally ends on the rocky cliff shores of The Sunless Mountains to the far west. Two large bays feed into the sea, they being Mournful Bay in the Rueful Plains and Stone Harbor in the Sun Kissed Hills almost to the Sunless Mountains. Another landmass shares its coast with this sea it is the fabled Southern Nexus, a land of ice and snow, an eerily quiet land that stands in silent judgement over the world beyond it. Beneath the calming churn of the seas waves is a landscape of barren sand spotted with rocky outcroppings and scarred with deep underwater ravines and cave openings. The waters below the surface of the sea are almost totally unexplored no one truly knows what lies at the bottom of its depths.

Fauna & Flora

The Sulking Sea is home to a large range of aquatic creatures from hundreds of species of small fish. To the great reef sharks that lurk in the deeper regions of its depths. Legends tell of an ancient sea beast, a creature spawned in the deepest reaches of the world below the waves, The Guardian of The Nexus as some call it. Its coming is marked with great storms and hurricanes that anger the calm sea and turn it into a raging tempest of death and ruin, it's maw is said to be able to devour ships whole, without a trace of them. Its dark tendrils and limbs are lined with black razor sharp spines that could rip the flesh off of a man in seconds. It is the apex predator of the sea but it as never been seen outside of the mad ramblings of crazed sailors who claim to have survived its assault. The more gentle giants of this body of water consist of giant pale whales called Wave Kissers, they are fabled to be an omen of good sailing weather and good fortune for sailors at sea, they are known to guide lost sailors to shore and in some sea worshiping faiths are the creatures that guide departed souls to the afterlife, in many sea fairing cultures it is a high crime to kill one of these creatures.
