Age of Ganay

819AP

The Queen took the shocking step of banning Imperial women from entering the arena with no reason given. Many people believed it was the new king Johan Ganay’s idea for they couldn't accept their beloved Queen could create a rule of such inequality. This, along with the Sorce ban, convinced people that Battle Balt's death approached.   But the shrewd King Ganay, had insider knowledge telling him the church were currently facing financial difficulties. He knew the Church's position would weaken the longer they kept losing money, so he waited a couple of years before striking in his bold attempt to save Battle Balt.

821AP - More than a decade after the old king had been forced to ban Sorces in the ARL, Johan Ganay attempted to convince the committee to bring the blessed powers back.   Attendance had fallen by seventy percent and losses had piled up. The church with their 15% share in the Imperial League had relied heavily on Battle balt funding and with the declining attendance figures were now struggling to meet their grand plans of adding pure Sorce domes in every church across Tenglan. A project that had already cost them vast amounts of essence coin and was too late to stop now.   Johan Ganay with support from the other ARL members agreed to increase the Churches share to 20% if they agreed to reinstate Sorce’s.   The Queen was furious with Ganay when she found out he had gone behind her back to use the church against her. He refused to back down and this was the start of her intense hatred towards him - Less than 3 years into their marriage.   The desperate Church sided with Ganay and humiliated the Queen by publicly retracting their previous comments that had claimed Sorces were unholy in the arena. This paved the way for their return to the ARL in 821. Battle Balt fans returned in their masses. ARL became even more popular than before while the Imperial Balt League (still governed by the Queen) continued losing numbers as she refused to rescind her Sorce ban.
