Juun Ethnicity in Horizon of the Void | World Anvil

Juun

"We are the body of war, and we shall prove that it is the body that matters most in a conflict between peoples. Only a strong body can ensure victory against your foes."
— Jios, leader of the Juun
The Alliance of the Worthy is a conundrum to many of the galactic powers in Horizon, its constant internal warfare making little sense to those not involved. The three races who make up the Alliance, on the other hand, find those who do not practice war at all times to be foolish at best and fools at worst. It is a small distinction but an important one in their eyes. One of these races is the Juun, and they believe that strength in body is by far the most important factor in winning a war. Strong warriors with even stronger weapons are the ultimate deciders, in their mind, of a battle.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

The unifying value of all Juun is a healthy and powerful body and it is a challenge to find a member of their society not in peak physical condition. Males and females must train every day to get stronger, learn how to use the newest exosuits and blasters, and beat their skull crushing record of the previous week. In battle these traits are further amplified as they will actively seek out the physically or technologically strongest opponent they can find and beat them or die trying.

Common Taboos

The greatest taboo of the Juun is to grow weak from lack of action. Injury or illness will not count against oneself as it is not something that can be prevented, but simply not working out or training is inexcusable. A Juun who refuses to strengthen their body will quickly find themselves an outcast, and not allowed to return unless they come back with ten times the strength they had before along with the head of a space drake in their hands.
