General Summary
The Thirteenth Trial of Zennieth. They have had to combine aspirants from two training groups to fill out the roster for the trail, After a number of Brok orc fighters, Stinlin elf, Mark gnome ranger, and Leshtra the Dragon rouge.
They travel into the portal
They arrive in nothingness
By casting light, they find a way together
Then then seemingly fall
They find themselves in a dark room. A shaft of yellow light cuts through the chamber. Four pillars rise around them. They are on a plinth. As they move, he is kicked up and hangs in the air as if existing in a different flow of time.
As they investigate, they notice a dark night sky stretches above them and the distant sound of
They find Garim Goldbrick a dwarf cleric that was lost in the 2nd Trial of Zenith
They walk from the altar and find a more open space where strange creatures of spun ash attack.
As the enemies are attacked, they fall apart, collapsing into powder
They heal up and then hear the crash of crystals somewhere in the night sky above them, but they see nothing
They meet a mysterious man who carries an impossible long ladder; he raises it into the air and climbs it into the sky, disappearing
He returns and finally addresses the party
He explains they are in a null space both inside of and outside of the Zenith
He explains that three elder brains were granted amnesty by the travelers after the first Mind Flayer War, live within the Zenith complex power and creating the trials for the Travellers. The fading of memories of failed aspirants is a side effect of the elder mind's hunger. While two of the interlinked minds are bevelont one is deranged.
He explains he is a manifestation of one of the minds
Kayla's ring caused the glitch of unsticking them for the path of the trial. But he thinks this is still a symptom of the third brain. He wants them to find an intellect to replace the "bad" brain and then lobotomize the third brain
He talks with them about possible opportunities. Perhaps The Producer (his preference) or another elder brain
They discuss it and feel they need to discuss it in a meridian's council
He is fine with that and activates the alter to allow them to go back to the horizon like it is nothing.
