Authors Note on Broc Dearg
Broc Dearg or 'Red Badger' is a fantasy fiction world created by Cooledcross for fifth edition Dungeons and Dragons. The story began on the 15th Sep 2018 with the Lost Mine of Phandelver starter adventure, and thus has odd references to the Forgotten Realms setting among others. From this point the world has expanded to what it is today. Many adventuring parties have explored the hills, forests, jungles, towns and seas of Broc Dearg, but no area more so then the village of Phandalin. The poor unfortunates of Phandalin have been harassed by bandits, and numerous player parties.
The initial plan was to first run the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure, then an original frontier adventure titled The Eighth, followed by another original adventure Pau-Brasil. The later adventure was the basis for the second chapter of Guard Academy was inspired. Guard Academy itself initially titled NORF Punk was a concept floated around in April 2020 for the Swamp Plays Games YouTube channel by Nucka, Mud, Ritualist and myself. However unsure of the sudden change of genre from fantasy medieval to cyberpunk, we agreed on a short four session test campaign. The purpose of this was to see if the creative vision of the Swamp Plays Games would work in conjunction with that of myself and the regular Broc Dearg players. However due to some artistic differences this was not to be, and Guard Academy continued without the Swamp Plays Games.
The latest project will be Guard Academy 3: Road to Porto Bello!
