Session 2: Frog Games - Scratching in the Dark - Part 1

General Summary

The party spread out to explore Bard's Gate. Brother Tomas and Peasant travelled across the massive bridge separating one half of Bard's Gate from the other eager to explore the city. It was a busy market day in Bard's gate as they explored the city. People from all corners of the Lost Lands plied their wares enthusiastically on the streets of Bard's Gate. In the centre of the bridge several large temples sat, in honour of the younger gods of Loegyr. It was however a surprise to see the large casino to the north in this most holy of districts, evidence indeed that Bard's Gate was a city of contrasts. Crossing over the bridge they entered into a quieter section of the city. To the north, the Hill, an affluent area where most of the money of Bard's Gate resided. To the south, the Old Temple District.     Borther Tomas and Peasant headed south, Brother Tomas eager to see the sights of the religious area. Here he the found temples and churches to gods who had fallen out of popular worship or who's worship was more niche in the world of the Lost Lands. Once again, as naive outsiders in the city, they were surprised to find the Pink Feather brothel near the religious buildings. Brother Tomas made enquiries about visiting a graveyard looking for a departed friend and it was explained to him by High Guardian Perinor, the head of the Temple of Vanitthu in Bard's Gate, that most temples and churches had private vaults and tombs for their most venerable and worthy benefactors and affiliates. If not allied with a particular pantheon or cult the unknown, those who were not 'saved' and the poor were often buried to the north-west of Bard's Gate in the The City of Ashes.   Snakehead and Toothfairy eventually meandered towards the others, Snakehead staying out of site, wary of the huge swell of population, something he was not used to due to his cloistered origin.   As the companions passed between the Pink Feathers and a small Inn, the Seven Trees Inn they heard shouts and frightened cries. A small, grubby figure staggered out from the cellar of the inn and collapsed in the street, a human woman Danyella Spring ran out from the inn and picked him up. The party learned that this was her son Theo, who had been exploring the cellar of the inn with his brother Mallic when they had been attacked by something. Theo passed out before he could tell more and an old halfling woman Ma Bravel determined that he had been poisoned, however she advised the party that she could probably cure him of his malady if they could find the source of the poison.
The inn-keeper Martyn Fenns offered a reward to the party for their help and they headed in the darkness of the cellar....
