Green Comets

Gimblenock was given a prophecy that the green comets would reactivate "the machines".
The green comets are creations of the Elder Thing and for tens of thousands of years contain the insentient Elder Thing Minds that constructed them.
Knowing that the comets would reactivate the Amphitheatre of Entanglement, the Axis Gnomes spent centuries locating the green comets and then decades communing with the insentiate Elder Thing minds prior to the Green Comets appearance over Holocene.
This way the Axis Gnomes were able to use the deep knowledge of the Elder Things to reactivate the Holocene Amphitheatre of Entaglement, in addition ot reactivating some of the gnome machines they control.
