Gnomes

Around the time of the founding of the Negresti empire, a tribe of Gnomes, who had been considered just above pests by their historical accounts, settled in an area east of the Great Desol on the shores of the Prismatic Sea. They began to prosper in that area and thanks to the natural mineral wealth and brilliant dyes that they distilled from the local flora, the city of Vidos grew into a prosperous port city and eventually banded together with other cities to form the Curran Republics. While not the sole rulers of the Republics, Gnomes are a large part of the population and represent a significant political interest there. While the political climate between the Republics and the Negresti has not always been completely sanguine, gnomish sages, tinkerers, artificers and more have made their way west and are not an uncommon site across all of Iolivus. Recent advances in blackpowder technologies from Vidos has seen a growth in respect for Gnomes as many try to get their hands on the powerful new resource.
