Dragonborn

Much of the Negresti nobility is made up of Dragonborn. The Empire was originally founded by a conclave of Dragonborn sorcerers who in a time of great chaos followed the teachings of a great Gold Dragon whom they refer to as the Gilded One. Negresti history tells of the Gilded One sacrificing her life to defeat a great demon and providing the safe haven around what would eventually become Collibria and it was from there that these Dragonborn founded the Negresti Empire. Over the ~3000 years of Negresti history, Dragonborn houses have rose and fell and while the majority of the nobility is Dragonborn, some have been brought low and Dragonborn can be found in different walks of life. When most Negresti meet a Dragonborn, they instinctively act as if that Dragonborn is noble, just in case. This has led to even Dragonborn of low social status still holding considerable influence and sway on the communities around them.
