Winksap
A plant commonly prepared as a tea, tincture, or candy. It induces a dreamy, calm state, relaxing the mind and body. The candies, known as "cloud crystals," are prepared by sweetening and crystallizing the bitter "milk" that seeps from the cut stems. It is moderately addictive, but withdrawal effects are relatively mild, consisting of nausea, anxiety, and headaches for a few days.

Properties
Material Characteristics
A silvery-green, delicate plant with smooth feathery leaves, about 1.5-2' tall. The flowers are single, prominent, and ruffled, usually pink or purple with a white throat. The stems are smooth and have small red speckles.
Geology & Geography
Prefers moist, acidic, poor soils. Often found growing between large boulders in coniferous forests.
Odor
Sharply herbal, reminiscent of wormwood. The flowers have no scent.
Taste
Somewhat bitter and sharp.
