"..." He stares at his feet now. "...My father's in bonds because of me." He whispers, rubbing his hands together, his brow furrowing. "I did it through indifference, me. My family begged me to work to help make ends meet, so we wouldn't starve...I refused. I felt what I wanted was more important at the time, I didn't realize the consequences. Now my father's in shackles, and my entire family is gone to the South." He rubs his face. "And that's on me. I'm the reason I'm alone. But I'm the only way I'm ever going to have my family back. So I'm going to get him out- I. I don't know how! I don't...but I am. And I'm going to tell him I'm sorry. And it's going to hurt, because I'll have to live with being the reason he was labeled a criminal for years. I'll have to live with my family feeling like I turned my back on them. But I can make them understand I changed, and that I'm a better person now. And if they don't want me...okay. But I'm alive, and that means I can't sit on my ass, wailing about how stupid I was. Other people will wail about how stupid I am for as long as I live, we blame anyone we can for our problems, so it's not my job to do that. It's my job to get the hell over it, do what I can to fix it, and...and show that I care about what I did, yeah, but more than that, I care what I'm going to do about it."
Melvin puts a hand on his shoulder. "When you're out there... no funny business okay? This isn't one of our shows. If you're not careful you might..." He doesn't finish.
"...I have to laugh. I have to laugh, if I don't, I..." Kendrick quiets, rubbing his face. "They're out there getting lined up, some of them are crying. They say they remember the dark and it had a nicer face than this. I showed them a parlor trick. I can't watch them cry...." He looks up at Melvin. "People care about you. And if you did something, somehow you've got to own it but get over it. Because you're useless if you're wailing about it all your life. You have to be the one to choose to get better, no one can do it for you. We can only give you the opportunity."
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Rather short in stature, lithe and agile. He is strong enough to be a fast runner, but thin enough that one is aware he spent time on the streets and only just got out of said life a couple years prior. Walks as if he's half a foot taller than he is, not arrogant, but proud of who he is and what he can do. He pops his back often.
Body Features
Tan, his family descends from desert dwellers but he is a bit paler, as he has not lived in these areas himself. His feet are calloused as he often walks barefoot, and his fingertips are also calloused from recovering from very minor burns as he was learning to manipulate fire. Blonde hair, mash the color gold and flaxen together, well trimmed nails, he has some back issues.
Facial Features
His most notable features are his brilliant blue eyes and his snarky, shit eating grin. His brows tend to furrow to aid in creating the smirking look on his face, but his face maintains an almost childish youth to it.
Identifying Characteristics
His hair reaches his neck and nearly his shoulders, except for one section that is a ponytail reaching partway down his behind. His confident voice and the loud slap of his feet on the ground will be the first things that you notice besides the strange hair.
Physical quirks
Right handed. He pops his back a lot. When he is relaxed, he stands with his back straight but his shoulders slouched and his thumbs tucked into pockets if he has them. When he meets new people or is performing, his posture is so prim that he enters into hyperlordosis in his lower back, his shoulders pulled back, and his head tilts up. He makes grand gestures with his arms and creates a persona with his physical demeanor that makes him seem bigger than he is. When he is sneaking about or trying to steal, he reverses this behavior, compacting himself and going quiet.

He's a phoenix sorcerer. Fire n shit.
Apparel & Accessories
If there is a shirt that exposes midriff, Kendrick owns it. He enjoys wearing red and gold, or blue and silver. He is not a fan of dull colors, and will wear any color available before brown- except for travel boots. Those are harder to find in fun colors anyway.
Specialized Equipment
He has a staff with a massive sun and moon design that he uses to smack people while fighting. This is the sole reason I plan to give him a level in monk.

He has no idea who he is attracted to because he's never really considered romance, but he's pretty open to flirting with anyone and anyone flirting with him, depending on their morals. You can have a dick, but don't be one.

Accelerando Reed ~ 'Crazy': She got him out of thievery and facilitated his ability to obtain a mentor and learn enough about magic to start performing and making an honest living. Like an aunt who gives tough love.
Melvin ~ the Great and Powerful: After a few years of traveling as an entertainer, Melvin takes Kendrick on as his apprentice and trains him further in magic and performance, and enables him to return to education and eventually college if he seeks it.
Vard: Teaches him a bit about the magical uses of lightning, they kid around.

Charismatic and flirtatious, great at getting attention and notoriety and convincing people to like him- unless they start off disliking him. He's terrible about changing their minds with words, his only luck ends up being with action at that point. He thinks he's capable and strong, but an ignorant child nonetheless and he has a lot he feels he must atone for. He is very formal around elders. Boisterous, lively, fun, and confident.

He loves storytelling and performing, he does not have any pets but wishes he could have one. He likes to play pranks from time to time, and he's very invested in learning but learning through action, not just books.

He speaks with confidence and a loud tone most of the time, as he keeps up a front of confidence and boisterous joy most of the time. When he's vulnerable, he's quiet and slouches, losing the fake height his personality adds, he seems small and lonely. His voice is slightly higher in pitch than the average adolescent boy's, but this does not phase him. He frequently compliments people on their 'style', he speaks very formally with elders, and the greatest insult to come from Kendrick is when he deems you are not worth his time.

He was born to a rather poor family, his uncle was rather well off as he was a traveling magical performer and merchant of trinkets and items he found on dangerous adventures and Kendrick once aspired to be like him. Currently he is rather frugal with funds, buying the necessities- unless it comes to clothes. He gets a bit excited about fancy clothing. And nice smelling soaps. And jewelry. His income comes from performance work, odd jobs, and funds from adventuring companies that contract for singular jobs.
