Personal history

Born in 739.M41, Crastus suffered the unfortunate fate of being raised on the penal world of Kommitzar. Son of a Guardsman stationed there, who lacked the means and resources to send his family elsewhere, Crastus grew up tolerating the severe conditions that many of the souls sent there similarly faced. Given that his father was barely at home, Crastus sought to the needs of his mother and a handful of other luckless innocents who found themselves stuck on Kommitzar.   What Crastus learnt early on, perhaps one of the first things he ever learned, was his aptitude in speaking. The life on a penal world is miserable and brutal, and order to survive, Crastus knew he needed to abuse whatever skills he had in order to keep himself and those close to him alive. He flourished his ability to speak, was able to be convincing, charming and even intimidating whenever necessary to get himself out of situation.   Despite being forbade to associate with the convicts on the planet, he sought to learn skills and talents from them, see what methods they used to survive, and thought about how he would expand on them, adapt them, make them better, all the while promising himself he would never be in the same position as these men who had lost their way.   In the darker days, Crastus also looked to the Emperor for guidance and for protection, which Crastus knew he gladly provided. Without the divine will of the Emperor, he knew he would have perished on the world he unfortunately called home. By the time he was eighteen, he knew his fate was to join the Adeptus Ministorum, to spread the divine word of the Emperor and perhaps help these souls that had so unfortunately lost their way. He thought, perhaps, with enough effort, they could be saved.   For almost a decade, he devoted his life to the Adeptus Ministorum, being assigned to his home planet, hoping to help those who were sent there, and as well as getting those close to him away from the place, as they did not belong there. However, by his late twenties, tragedy struck. A heretical incursion had occurred. Thousands upon thousands were killed. His father, mother, friends, all gone. Cratsus helpless to save them. The resulting conflict left him wounded, his upper torso scarred beyond measure.   When he recovered, under the approval of the Adeptus Ministorum, he sought to find out who was responsible, how it happened, and how many were remaining. The reason behind this attack did not interest him, as no matter the reasoning, the actions that took place were irredeemable beyond words. He spent several weeks, searching, planning, terminating those responsible. Mutants, in particular, as they were seemingly the ring leaders behind the attack, twisted by heretical powers. Crastus usually regarded them with suspicion beforehand, yet now he regards them with a hatred so fierce he's had to force his mind away from wondering into dark places. Many sleepless nights were spent over tracking down those involved, but in the end, it was worth it. The result meant that the pain he experienced would not be repeated.   He often questioned if the some of those he had terminated were truly guilty of heretical wrongdoing, but he steadily began to realise that these men were here for a reason. They had committed acts that warranted punishment, many of them murders and thieves, many who stole and cheated men and women of the faith, who followed the imperial creed with equal conviction as he had. To murder, to kill, without purpose, was in his mind merely a pathway that led to the Ruinous powers.   His apprehension and removal of the heretics received significant attention from Adeptus Ministorum, and murmurs of his actions made there way to an Inquisitor named Glavius Wroth. Wroth offered him a position, to join the Ordo Hereticus, prevent what had happened on Kommitzar elsewhere. When offered, it took Crastus less than a second to accept. Even though he knew that he had rooted out the current cause of the heresy, it was bound to return. Kommitzar, in his mind, was doomed. It should have eradicated years ago. Tragedy and heartache would have been avoided then.   A few years have passed since then, and Crastus' determination to prevent heresy from spreading has blossomed. He has proactively sought to stamp it out wherever he may go whenever the opportunity arises, all the while spreading the fundamental need and importance of the imperial creed. His passion for this may have resulted in him pursuing thoughts that may be wildly illogical and extreme, but he believes that the consequences of such ideas would be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. He believes heresy must be stamped out by any means necessary, regardless of the price. Not doing so, would result in costs far too great to imagine.
