Personal history

Originally born on Lathe world Hadd in M41.734, Cornelius Astro was born to a family of Adepts. His childhood was fairly normal, he was social with others as well as being a good student. This changed soon after turning 14, where he began to manifest psychic anomalies. He attempted to hide these powers, even ignore them but it did little to change how different he now was. He began thinking out loud, unintentionally finishing people's sentences. He was accused of cheating on a majority of his school tests, as answers to difficult questions would always subconsciously apparate in the back of his head.   Struggling to manage his new found powers, he confided in his parents for help as he had now lost the majority of his friends due to his sudden weirdness. Afraid of what he now was and unavailable to truly comprehend what was happening, his parents being straight nosed citizens of the empire reported him to the Astra Telepathica. The next day he was being restrained and taken to the Black Ships.   Given the Lathe Worlds are heavily under the grasp of the Adeptus Mechanicus, members of the Lords Dragon wished to claim Cornelius as theirs. Yet fortunately, Inquisitor Glavius Wroth of the Ordo Hereticus was present in the Golgenna Reach at the time and intervened to instead place Cornelius under his purview. This was both to spite the fanatical Adeptus Mechanicus which Wroth was no fan of, and also to obtain a psyker as an acolyte.   Cornelius was then sent to Terra, to train within the Obsidian Keep in order to become a Sanctioned Psyker. After four years of studying the roles and responsibilities of a Sanctioned Psyker, and how to control and use one's powers for good; Cornelius was inducted as a Sanctioned Psyker of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica and soul-bound to the God Emperor.   After becoming a Sanctioned Psyker in the Obsidian Keep, Cornelius spent another year training to be an Acolyte. As this was not only requested by Wroth, but he was found strongly resistant to hostile psychic influences and able to control himself. And given his powers, he would make for a useful Mystic.   After completing his Acolyte training at the age of 20, he was noted as excelling in all studies and exercises related to psychic powers as well as all knowledge / intelligence based tasks. He was noted as being only passable in physical combat, while being lacking in his skills of subterfuge as well as convincing and deception although that wasn't something highly expected of a Sanctioned Psyker.   Shortly after passing all his tests on Terra, he was relocated to Hive City Tarsus, Scintillia. He was placed under Glavius Wroth's leadership where he served as a part of one of his Acolyte teams. He spent the majority of his time investigating suspected cults, corrupt people of power and busting various crime rings.   Having located and eradicated a chaos cult along with other recently acquainted acolytes, Cornelius's next operation is the kidnapping of a noble's daughter   He has served under Wroth for a relatively long time as far as acolytes go. Cornelius has experienced and learned a lot throughout his years as an investigator. Having worked with many fellow acolytes and even losing some, he's learned to trust in an individual's expertise. Cornelius has learnt how to control his powers and is confident yet careful in their use, only revealing them when need be. He is extremely well read and in general is good with numbers. He's also trained in the practice of interrogation, although he's not partial to it and does so when it's the only option. So while he is confident in his intellectual ways and takes the lead when studying information or investigating a scene. He's not arrogant and is comfortable with following another's lead for things he is not adept at. For the most part this is regarding combat, subterfuge or talking ones way into or out of somewhere. Things that he has experienced, but was never expected to master due to his designation as a Mystic.   Despite being the longest standing acolyte in the current group, he considers there no need to be a group leader; given each member is a specialist in their own ways. And given his austere upbringing on Lathe world Hadd and his years of conditioning within the Obsidian Keep, Cornelius comes across as a very calm and neutral person. He is rarely visually panicked and maintains a calm demeanour regardless of the situation. He is well spoken and rarely raises his voice to be heard. He prefers to take a slow and pragmatic approach to tasks, and attempts to avoid fighting people but is fine with defending himself lethally.   Cornelius has known Glavius Wroth the longest out of the current group, although that's still a minute amount given the inherent mystery and secretive nature of Inquisitors and their interactions. He feels indebted to Wroth because he knew of the few alternatives he had back as a kid. Either dying or being taken in by the Lords Dragon, and becoming some abhorrent experiment or half-machine man which makes his skin crawl every time he considers the fact.   Cornelius is a faithful believer in the God Emperor and genuinely strives to rid humanity of evil, one task at a time as small as they may be. He holds great disdain towards criminals and heretics, seeing them as a blight on every world that they reside. Seeing heretics, criminals or corrupt individuals being tolerated or getting away with their actions is one of the few things that will make him lose his cool.
