General Knowledge

Common or Cultural knowledge:
Most characters would have some, or all of this knowledge. Perhaps you recall a story told by a relative or friend, or a nursery rhyme explaining this. Feel free to elaborate if you wish.  
  1. - It can be harmful to travel during a Sandstorm or heavy Thunderstorm, best to hunker down and wait it out.
  2. - Unless openly aggressive, most wanderers are willing to live and let live, combat is dangerous and best avoided.
  3. - The world is strange and wondrous, keep alert for positive magical events, as well as dangerous ones.
  4. - Trolls and some kinds of undead are harmed fire, so always have Oil, a torch or fire spells handy.
  5. - Some terrors of the dark cannot be harmed by normal steel, carry a Silver or Magical weapon to harm these beasts.
  6. - While the Al’Kemri Empire (Dead Kings) have been gone for centuries, some words and phrases still exist in the common Sandiid vernacular. (Your DM can provide a short list of terms for you to reference if you would like)
  7. - If you’re looking to earn some extra coin, there are usually odd jobs or open contracts available at the Town Bulletin Board, or on a Tavern Notice Board.
  8. - ‘Small Magic’ is common among village seers, elders, and traveling Magi, but more powerful magic is extremely rare.
  9. (1st and 2nd level spells are ‘Small Magic’. 3rd, 4th and 5th level spells can be learned by masters in Magic Academies, but 6th level and above is all but unheard of in the world)
  10. - Salt is a common traveling commodity. It can be used to preserve meat, it is commonly used in rituals to protect against undead, and it can also be used in combat to blind an opponent or spot a hidden foe.
  11. - Water is vital if traveling the desert. Be sure to bring extra Water if you plan to travel across vast expanses of desert. Also be certain to carry rations, including drinks, without regular sustenance you will become more easily exhausted.
  12. - A mount is an effective method of traveling faster and carrying more treasure, however they too must have food and plenty of water to keep the animal alive and healthy.
  13. Buying a Horse, Camel or other mount is a good investment, but be sure to buy supplies to keep it alive.
  14. - Cactus Flowers and other herbs can be harvested, and are easily processed into a simple medicinal salve, these salves have a few positive effects.  -- Cactus Flowers come in 3 colors, with different effects when processed. Blue cures disease, Red recovers HP, Purple removes poison. Any character with +5 or more points in the Medicine or Nature skills or proficiency with an Alchemists or Herbalists Kit can process the flowers into a salve, 1 per short rest or 4 per Long Rest.
