Change Circle

Choose one target willing druid. He became the attendee of this ritual. You transform the attendee druidic circle into your own circle. The attendee will enter a fit container (see Material components) and he will incubate inside of it for an hour.   This spell dose does not revert the Attendee Druid level to 2, unless he chooses otherwise. You must be of the circle that you want your target to transform to.

Effect

The druid attendee will lose all magical connection for his own circle, as a new magic theatre will connect to him: of his new Attendee. He will be able to cast the same druidic spells but will have the new circle abilities, and lose his old circle abilities.

Manifestation

Chanting, Calling, Roaring. The druid caster calls forth the primal powers that giveth the ability to cast spells. The spirits of the Attendee circle might come to question the choice, and converse with the Caster. He will give them offerings and ask for forgiveness as he keeps on concentrating on the spell.

Discovery

ritual casting spores
by Lars Grant-West
When the dwarfs first submerged into the Underdark, they could not face the powers of the underworld and its creatures who were fit and born into the environment. The Gorgons, who wanted nothing more than to abolish all the draw and their fearfull old magic, agreed to help the dwarfs. They have given Gilrod Silverstone, who was the first druid to go into the Underdark, the power of the Spore circle, and a clan: Innerblight. Now Innerblight needed to make new druids, so Gilrod who learned from the gorgon magic, made his own variation of it, and started making a dwarven spore army. Adding Deep Dwarfs to his circle of the spores.

The spell is easy to understand, however, fixing the grammar & capitalization issues would help because it did have a minor effect on readability. I would use this for my world if I could. I'm unsure if it should be a level 2 spell. Do you have an reason why it is level 2?

Because druids choose a circle by level 2. Its a DND 5 spell. The 2nd level means the Druid is actually 3rd level. So he should know by now how to ask his circle to add a druid to it. Its a change of subclass mechanic that the game doesn't have.

How many druid of the new circle are required for the spell?

One, its a Ritual. You can be joined but the time is always an hour. The reason its an hour of incubating and not a day or some hours, like what could be better story-wise, is the fact that I dont want a player to be "punished" for being an Attendee of the ritual. If it were a day then all other players would play while he would sit with his druid sleeping. I might change the spell to level 5 spell, that means the druid who cast it must be of level 9, so halfway to became a Demigod.

I agree with the comment below that grammar and capitalization issues make the spell itself hard to read. I had to read through a few times to realize that it was a spell of initiation.   Would it make more sense, in your game world, for this to be an ability granted to druids at a certain level or other threshold, rather than a spell for them to use? It seems that 2nd level is a fairly low barrier of entry to being able to initiate new druids into a secret society.

I will reconsider, but this spell is done on druids, that already chose a circle and found a reason to change it. Because it's an hour spell that must not be stopped (ritual) with hard to find component, it's not an easy spell to cast. It is usually done by a full circle of druids to accept the new druid into their circle.

Another option, to keep the spell requirement down from taking up a (albeit temporary) higher-level spell slot is that while only one material component is required, a quorum of the circle must be present performing the ritual. It could be kept down at second level, so that any initiated druid assists to the initiation of new members - but they are unable to initiate anyone without the rest of the circle present.   As such, I'll be grabbing this spell for my own use. I like it.

Druid circles are spread around the world, to gather all of the circle members would be harder than to get to level 9, while the player will suffer from a circle he doesn't want to play. You can have Circle of the Arctic land in Highrune or in Ashur or in any place there is arctic climate and so goes with other circles. So there might be a min number, but all the purpose is to make more join because you have too few, the first spore druid was only one. It is not a spell to make a new druid, but to change one. The old druid must have had a circle of his own to lose.

Hmm, I think I get the jist of this spell. But it needs some clarification. This is definitely a case where formatting would help get your point across more effectively.   Breaking some of this into paragraphs for one. Are you meaning to use that point of view? If so, then punctuation in between mentions of yourself will help the flow a lot.   As I often say, pictures! And formatting! They really bring any article to life. I'd be interested in seeing this after you redo it.

How would you Format it differently? Also, Ive changed the wording all around to make it clearer.

Dec 4, 2018 09:19

It's much clearer now for someone who doesn't play DnD. Good job.
