Candlelight City

Is the capital and largest city in East Highrune. It's a Religious city and the centre of the great church. The City holds the Thron of the Human king. It sits on the Hosszu kek river and sits south-east from the castle of Laken Cas. Candlelight was found by the humans. It is governed by the King of East Highrune and the Candlelight Assembly its villages are governed by a Mayor(rank).

Superstition and Religion

The chapter chose Candlelight to be the city of the Archbishopy not because the king lives there, but because the gods influence still runs there, from days before mortals even walked The Material Plane. There are some superstition about it, and some real magic happening in the city.
  • A child must not sleep in stripes, or else it will be replaced with a Changeling in the night. As such, a mortal in striped clothing is sticking out in a crowd.
  • Sirona mistrust Candlelight. Any native must sacrifice a stag before sailing or face great difficulty at sea, lake or river.
  • If you give leftovers to a carrion eater in the city and villages area, You take a -2 status penalty when rolling diplomacy or survival to check or interact with an animal for five years.
  • No-one can die in a room so long as the room contains a wyrmling dragon in a bowl. The dragon must be alive, remain of its own accord, and cannot be bound in any way to the bowl, physically, by magic, or by persuasion.
  • If a sister objects to a wedding, it is invalid.
  • A pregnant woman must never get drunk – if she does, a demon will wake her after she falls asleep and ask if it can take her unborn child. In her disoriented condition she might agree.
  • Donn in his hate for Ogmios cursed those who rule the city. If no king (a non-gender specific title) sits on the throne "keeping it warm" for one month, a great winter storm will fall on the city.
  • Belenous is a major deity in the city of the chapter. Anyone who don't chant the morning blessing before she eats this day, will die under the full-moon.
  • Belenous has many places to protect, he will forget to bless the lands of candlelight if not reminded daily by rituals and ceremonies.
  • Its a blessing to drink with members of the other sex.
  • Going to the bank on belenous-day (Belday) brings bad harvest this year. This is why all administration buildings are closed at belday (the first day of each week).
  • You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to performance checks made while using the lute inside the city walls. A bard can attempt a religion check to please the virgin aspect of Ritona (DC 30), on success, she gains a spell slot back, on a critical failure she loses her voice until she atones.
  • Wood is the most important material during winter. A house without a burning hearth won't be blessed or protected by Ritona, Belenous, Sirona or Sequana, losing their blessing makes becoming pregnant nearly impossible.
