Alderman

The Alderman is the title given to the leader of The Circle of Wrens. An Alderman is both the midwife, the sage, the herbalist, the councillor, the village elder, and the high priest of god in Elvenhime. His word is taken as the will of the tree of life itself, and he could decide when a ceremony or ritual will happen, and who will attendee or not. He could excommunicate someone from Elvenhime and by doing so, taking the blessing of The River King from him, leaving him unprotected against the world.

Appointment

He who holds this title is most likely the oldest one if the circle or was chosen by the last Alderman to replace him after death. If the Alderman didn't choose a new one before death, and most of the circle is around the same age and would say same wisdom. The circle will meet and a ritual where the tree of life opens the eyes of the circle to the possibilities that every leader can give them. Then they vote by casting a trinket that symbolises the leader they want. This rarely happens, as the Aldermen tends to call of the circle his a successor by making him his protege long before he dies.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Only by death.
