Association

Association is the process by which people, places, and objects are connected to one another on a spritual level. These connections form naturally between anything that shares an emotional bond - a person will be associated to the people they deeply connected to, as well as the places they have lived and objects they have loved. Also, people are associated to their own body, including parts which may be removed such as hair, blood, or nails.

The bonds of association are a pathway that magic can use to connect to a particular person. A caster who is in possession of one side of an associative link can use the Rite of Association to target a spell, using the association as a path to reach the true target. Those who feel endangered by this will sometimes undergo the Rites of Divestiture to break all their associations, although this process can have serious psychological side-effects.
