A world of several continents, each separated by oceans. The main continent,
Veland, is broken up into smaller nations that are in relative peace with each other. No major wars are rocking the world, and the races are in relative peace as well. There are evil races that work against the civilized races;
drow dwell in the
Darklands and ravage the
dwarven cities and towns deep in the mountains,
arachnids spread their webs throughout dark forests, and other tribes of
goblins,
orcs,
gnolls and more raid small villages, leaving enough work for the kingdoms and soldiers to deal with as it is. Since control is difficult to maintain, many smaller towns have taken to hiring mercenaries, guild members, or adventurers looking for a bit of coin. There are 3 guilds: the
Martial Guild,the
Mage Guild, and the
Dark Guild. The
Martial Guild focuses on training strong martial fighters to take on adventuring jobs based on their skill level. The
Mage Guild focuses on collecting rare and dangerous artifacts, and also exploring the mysteries of the Hidden Realm. They make money from governments mostly, but occasionally they'll take on adventuring jobs, sometimes working with the
Martial Guild, to take down particularly powerful magical creatures using their vast knowledge of magical creatures and abilities. Mainly though, they focus on why the pantheon of gods has closed off the Hidden Realm from the rest of the realms and how to reconnect it to the rest of the realms again. The
Dark Guild is more secretive, and its members aren't known to anyone outside of its own membership. If you wish to hire them, you don't approach them, they approach you. When you have need of their services, you'll find a Raven clutching a black scroll that's been inscribed with firey text with instructions on how to proceed with accomplishing your needs.
