Lennix

Among the early days of Sragos, there were many generals, but few stood out as much as Lennix did.   As was not common in Sragos, and even more uncommon to this day, Lennix was a family man. He had a loving husband, and two orphaned girls they took under their care, after Lennix himself witnessed their parents slain in battle in Sragos. He fought just as much to protect his home world as he did to protect his family.   A devout follower of Krava, he led his troops to swift and decisive victories repeatedly. Before each battle he would kneel and say a prayer into his longsword, asking for her blessing. And every battle, she would answer his prayers, and bless his battle. "May she bless my blade and my body. May my shield be my bulwark for country and kin. Krava I give myself to thee, and accept thee into mine." He would whisper, before rising and facing the onslaught.   Elementals would pour out from the portals. Undead abominations would assail him. Demons and beasts, monsters and terrors. All would come out, and he was at the front of the melee with his troops. Each and every time they would emerge victorious, and each and every time he thanked Krava for her blessings. After each battle, he would round up those who had fallen, and give them a proper burial. This tradition to respect for the dead, and honoring their passing would not last much longer than Lennix, for it simply became far too common an occurrence. Lennix though, felt it important to let his men know they mattered in both life, and in their sacrifice.   One day a new foe came through the portal; just one. It was an unknowable abomination. Its form was disfigured. It had teeth the size of swords, claws twice as long. Its muscles rippled and bulged, and its arms were the size of ancient trees. As soon as it entered the battlefield, it took in its surroundings, saw Lennix and his men, and knew what his goal was. The beast rushed Lennix down. It being more than double Lennix's size, and easily tenfold his strength, Lennix was no match. The beast however, wasn't there to kill Lennix. It was to take the general captive, Lennix's death would not be so swift. There was a message to be sent.   The beast dragged Lennix back through the portal. Not once did he scream, or shout. On the other side, the beast strung Lennix up from a decaying tree. The beast bit into its own hand, and forced its blood into Lennix's mouth. He became a twisted version of a werewolf, but far more grotesque. For forty days, and forty nights, Lennix remained prisoner there. He was tortured, but the beast's cursed blood closed Lennix's wounds. Lennix never once gave the beast the satisfaction of knowing the pain he was in. Every day he turned to Krava for strength, asking her to help him through this... but she never answered his prayers. In his darkest moments... Krava abandoned Lennix. This proved to be his greatest torture, the isolation, the absence of the divine. He did hear one whisper, from another divine being though, reassuring him that there is hope, and he will see Lennix soon   On the forty first day, the beast slew Lennix, and threw his body back through the portal as it opened again.   Lennix's renown was legendary. His devotion to Krava was unparalleled. This drew her attention, and she offered him patronage into deism. Sho'Dall also stepped forward, revealing himself to be that last whisper Lennix heard, and also offered him patronage. He accepted their offers, and ascended, but secretly swore vengeance against Krava, who abandoned him in his moment of need.
