Hersagul

Created by

Some six hundred years ago, a massive Cataclysm tore the world of Hersagul asunder, leaving the survivors adrift upon a bottomless Arcane abyss. In the centuries that followed, the mortal races have struggled to rebuild and redefine what civilization means in their isolated reaches of the world.   To the humans, dwarves, and elementals of Mara-Dun, this meant forging a peace between the native mortal races and the elemental forces who came to settle through portals torn in the fabric of the plane. This accord, called The Pact of The Prime and written in the very bedrock of the continent, gave rise to the elemental-touched Genasi, and allowed innovation to flourish in the Ulite-rich sands of the Caspian Desert.   To the East, in the Wildlands, magic reclaimed the land and its creatures. Powerful enchanted beasts roam the towering forests where wild elves form loose tribal societies, the whimsical chaos of their societies mirrored in their nebulous relationship with time, age, and maturity.   South of the Wildlands, the God Dragons make their roost in the Draconic Isles. Once a continent united under the name Dragonhold, these isles were ripped from each other when the curse of Ilati, God Dragon of the Emerald Scepter, drove the deities to greed and suspicion. While the curse has long since been lifted, the God Dragons have become even more reclusive, interacting with the outside world solely through the dragonborn attendants they forge and send out on the skyways.   In the Southwest of Hersagul lays Mulland: a land defined by centuries of strife that culminated in the formation of the great Mulland Empire. Not thirty years after the first Maran airship reached their shores, The Empire began the bloody War of Ennoblement which — after nearly a century of conflict — ended with Imperial conquest of Mara-Dun.   With Imperial eyes turning to the Wildlands, rich in magic-infused Ulite minerals, the last bastions of freedom from Mullish rule are fractured and weak, though a few pirate havens nest in the scattered islands between the major lands, known collectively as No-Man's Land. Will the Empire seize control over these lands, or will people rise up as champions of the downtrodden? What ancient & dangerous secrets lay hidden away from mortal eyes? For in these dangerous times, in this dangerous world, not all mortals are fated to fly above the shattered lands of Hersagul free and unfettered.
