The Tecoma Kakistocracy
The District of Tecoma has been wrought by a series of natural, magical, technological, social and financial disasters in its history. This unfortunate history, paired with a strong musical history and a cultural proclivity to measured and gradual development has had the people of Tecoma develop a wide range of governmental systems during the Era of Unity. In The Law Giving, the leaders of the region chose The Law of Freedom. A law allowing for the people living within the region of Tecoma to freely change how they are govern themselves. This decision lead to all five of the disasters that plagued the region that preceded the 6th disaster, The Reverse Zoo Occupation which has been the only disaster so far to not trigger another change in governance.
The current system of governance is Kakistocracy and was brought into effect after the Oligarchy that caused the financial disaster commonly know as the Crash Bandicoot (named after the ruling family at the time). The Kakistocracy in Tecoma is led by a small group of the worst off people in the region. They are selected every 2 years by the resident homeless population in a shadow vote and are kidnapped and taken to a secret underground compound where they then take on the responsibilities of the ruling body.
The group consists of one person from each suburb within Tecoma, Upperdowns, Sobec, Burgisburg, The Terraces, The Kermadec Trench and Washington D.C. So far the system has been an overwhelming success with each government making strides to gradually make improvements to the living conditions of the overall citizenry.
