Kalus Morel

Common Lore   This deity is a pair, a god and goddess that together form the collective point of worship for Kalus Morel. The siblings, Kalusio and Morela once had a third sibling, Lrago.   Their brother Lrago was a beacon of light and the three would fight together in any battle against the forces of evil. Though he is not actively worshipped in the religion he is venerated as the "Lost Beacon" due to his fateful battle with the Demon Lord Orcus that caused him to suffer a grave wound, forcing him into a deep slumber. The faithful await the day that he rises from his slumber and goes back to his rightful place in Celestia.   It is against that day that Kalusio crafted the great necropolis where the souls of humanity have have died worthy deaths find themselves. Those that have not are doomed to wander the Ashen Plains until they have redeemed themselves. Kalusio wanders the streets of the necropolis with the tattered remnants of a burial shroud draping his shoulders and dragging on the street behind him.   Morela stayed on Celesia, mourning the loss of both of her brothers to the sphere of death. Her palace is a verdant paradise of gardens and flowing water, verdant life wrapping around dark pink and white marble. Though she is a goddess of life she is forever clothed in black.   The siblings are worshiped collectively as Kalus Morel but within the teachings are venerated for their specific spheres. They serve as the human gods of Death and the Afterlife, through which humans can enjoy the blessed fields of Venya among the endless verdant fields and forests surrounding the Palace of Morela.     Uncommon Lore   Kalus Morel’s power changes and shifts as the moon waxes and wanes, Kalusio taking dominance during the New Moon while Morela’s influence slowly takes precedence as Celesia becomes more full. This leads to the Clerics of the Godhead to wax and wane as well, when Morelas influence is the strongest they find their grasp of life is at its highest, allowing them to heal with greater power. When Kalusios is at its height (when Celesia is not seen in the sky) their damageing spells become stronger.   Kalus Morel has a connection to separated siblings, their priests actively adopting children who have lost a brother or sister, going so far as to pay the family for them. These "Shorn Siblings" are indoctrinated into the church, their grief seen as holy and them healing seen as slowly helping aid their gods "resting" sibling.   Rarely known or Heard Lore   The siblings were most notably warring with the surge of demonic attacks against Celesia after the fall of Solag. With the death of the mighty dragon god, the moon of Pandemon eclipsed Celestia and started a war in the heavens that lasted a thousand years. During that time the world suffered under the baleful gaze of the red moon.   It was during this that Lrago fell fighting a dread demon lord, casting himself down to Heroda and into the Sphere of Death in a last ditch effort to keep any of his power falling into the hands of evil.   Kalusio found his brother on the Ashen Plains within the sphere of Death, his form slowly starting to dissipate. It was on this location that he built a great mausoleum to house his brothers body and to keep its form from dissipating. Regardless of what the mortal followers think, the form of Lrago is ever so slowly fading, the necropolis surrounding him only slowing the dissolution of the divine flesh to a crawl.   Kalusio's necropolis was never intended to create the resting place of humanity, it is a role he slowly grew into as the Ashen Planes had been where the souls of Humanity found themselves when they died. It was through his grief and the distant sadness of his sister that he began to form mausoleams for the humans that wandered to the Tomb of Lrago. Kalusio was able to forge a connection between the Necropolis and his sisters palace so that while humanity is forced to go to the Ashen Planes, so long as they have a tomb in the Necropolis their souls will rest in the fields of Venya on Celestia.   It is not known exactly why Humanity does not have a resting place dedicated to them by their creator, Solag. What IS known is that human souls only began to appear on the Ashen Planes after the death of Solag and where the souls of those that died before hand rest is unknown
