Lizardfolk Sentinel

In a typical Lizardfolk tribe, there are several positions of warriors. The most trained of these are the Sentinels, whose main duty is to protect the Shaman or any other high-value member of the lizardfolk's party.

Other than the chieftan or shaman themself, the Sentinels are the most fearsome members of a lizardfolk tribe. With their heavy equipment and imposing presense on the battlefield, most lizardfolk will press on knowing they are being supported by such a powerful addition. However, should one fall in battle, it is almost certain all other lizardfolk will retreat as quickly as they attacked.

Career

Qualifications

Typically there are only a handful of sentinels at any one time in a lizardfolk tribe, usually one directly serving the Shaman or Cheiftan of the tribe, and one or two more depending on how large the tribe itself is.

To serve as a sentinel, the lizardfolk has to display expert combat prowess as well as tenacity in the face of danger. In addition, they have to be willing to put themselves in harms way to protect the shaman or any other lizardfolk that are in battle.

Other Benefits

Other than the renown that comes with being an elite warrior, the Sentinel is also given the tribe's most powerful and exotic weapons that have been created or stolen for the tribe. Such examples include giant-tortise shields, or scavenged metal or magical weapons.

Operations

Tools

Most Lizardfolk sentinels carry with them some type of large shield that serves as their greatest asset. With their ability to shield-bash they can redirect enemies on the field. Also, they have spears or pikes or some other type of pole-arm that allows them to keep enemies at bay from their escorted target. Also, while not frequently used, the sentinels also carry several javelins for ranged attacks.
