Cavern Loot
General Summary
Once we return to the basement of the Last Stand...
Neremyn establishes that we can claim the gemstones here - finders keepers. We head to Sapphire's shop and have to shimmy past Brick & Brack while they're reattaching the sign the vexgit ruined. Bork tells Sapphire about the encounter below the inn and she's clearly nostalgic about her distant underground home. Sapphire expresses great interest in the raw gems and we show her the cavern.
From there we fix the wagon and let Sapphire and Giver take charge of the mining process. We heal ourselves and purchase a mule from the stablemaster. We hit the road and are tailed by a pack of hungry wolves, but Bork is able to calm them and prevent conflict.
After six days we're in a damp swamp, exactly where Sapphire described. Thick wet bushes and strings of vines and moss hang from the large trees in the area. Rizza immediately spots two large figures hunkered down behind a couple logs in the distance. Sickly green skin and frog-like heads which Rizza immediately recognizes as Boggarts. Agressive, amphibious humanoids who fiercely defend any territory they claimed. I ask if the Boggarts would indicate a lack of Trolls, but Rizza tells me they often work alongside Trolls and even kind of revere them.
As we ponder how to proceed they decide we're a threat and throw a spear as a warning. We annihilate them and then accidentally provoke a rather large crocodile. Once it's defeated both Bork and Rizza struggle to cross the bridge and end up nearly drowning and even get stuck under the floating crocodile corpse. In an attempt to help, Neremyn casts Levitate on the dead reptile and it floats into the air, lifting them from the water.
On the other side we're attacked again and fight our way through even more Boggarts.
