Anhkeg

These massive tunnelling creatures are an amalgam of horrifying insect features with bright red eyes and mandibles powerful enough to crush the average humanoid. Although large and fairly slow, they have a heavy carapace that makes them difficult to damage. The fact that they travel in groups or lair in hives always grant them the advantage of numbers.   Anhkeg seem to have a predisposition towards mutation, however we're uncertain if this is unusual for these creatures. This burrowing, bug-like monster scuttles about on six legs, drooling noxious green ichor from its clacking mandibles.   Ankhegs are an all-too-common plague upon the rural areas of the world. These horse-sized burrowing monsters generally avoid heavily settled areas like cities, but their predilection for livestock and humanoid flesh ensures that they do not keep to the deep wilderness either. Their preferred habitat is rural farmlands, as the loose soil of such regions makes it easy for the creatures to burrow. Tales speak of larger ankhegs that dwell in remote deserts—such creatures likely feed primarily on giant scorpions and camels, and rarely come in contact with civilization due to their remote locations.

Special Abilities

Caustic Bite: These insect-like creatures secrete a natural acid that burns anything they bite into.
Acid Spit (ex): Anhkeg can spit a long line of caustic acid that depletes their naturally acidic bite but can deal significant damage to many enemies at once. They prefer to avoid using this ability unless desperate or frustrated enough to disable one of their more powerful abilities.
