Hedgedom of Strisia
The Hedgedom of Strisia lies in the geographic region of Strisia and is the western neighbour of Morisia and the southern neighbour of the Duchy of Vallande, to whom it holds almost no political or diplomatic connections, nor to any other state or organization. The Hedgedom of Strisia functions and operates entirely on its own and wishes to minimise contact with "outsiders". To the west of Strisia lies the ocean.
The Hedgedom is ruled by a council of witches: The Great Coven. This coven oversees the other covens in the Strisian regions and rules the lands of Strisia unquestioned and unchallenged. The leader ans mistress of the Greta Coven is Mirena, an ancient witch who is said to have been wandering the continent of Helvara before any humans has even stepped foot on it. She has specifically chosen Strisia as the best and most potent place to form her great witch coven and she is said to be the ancestor of all born witches. By extensions, it is also her who decides on who is worthy to be initiated in the way of witchcraft.
The covens have verying degrees of contact between themselves. The Great Coven is content to leave the witches do what they want for most of the time, as long as no central rules are broken. Once a year, though, a mandatory convention of all witches of Strisia, will take place on the Witches Moon in the month so Estra. The location of this convention changes every year and most witches eagerly anticipate their invitations.
Strisia is largely overgrown by forest and woods and has almost no larger cities, only a few smalltowns. It is largely unknown how their economy or any other systems funtion to outsiders. It is also questionable is any judicial, legislative oder executive systems are even in place.
One of the great ancient woods of Helvara, the forest of Noricca, lies in the territory of Strisia and is home to a circle of druids, the Circle of Lunn, who have named it as their sacred grove. There seems to be an uneasy agreement between the druids and witches of Strisia. Nevertheless, the witches - despite not liking having to share power and magical energies - seem to have recognized the necessity of having druids present in the woods. The witches themselves have a deep connectrion to nature and so both groups seem content for the time to let the others do their work as long as the realm of nature is respected and protected.
It is also by visiting the Hedgedom of Strisia how one can learn the ways of the witch.
