The Old City
The Old City is a curious mix of old buildings and newer highrises. The area is inhabited by less than a million people. Most of the governmental buildings of Helsinki and Finland were located in the Old City of Helsinki but were sold to private entities during Sellsinki. Also the landmark buildings such as universities and churches have been sold and some of them have been abandoned and fell into disrepair.
The old city has been on the decline for years after the focus of the city changed to the New Center in the north. Gang violence and warfare is a daily occurrence in the district and anyone who values their life moved away a long time ago. Every day more and more people leave and more buildings are abandoned. Police have officially established the Old City as a no go zone and the power is held by the gangs.
There are still some corporations operating in the area, mostly those which are too poor to leave or prefer areas where there are no police and no one asks if people go missing.
